All families are different. Children from LGBTQ+ parented families experience increased disadvantage and suffering as a result of bullying and discrimination. It is vital for all schools to be proactive in designing environments that are welcoming and include discussions and on family diversity even if the school does not yet have many or any LGBTQ+ parented families. All families should be welcomed into educational settings that embrace them fully. Schools are well positioned to reduce discrimination and disadvantage for LGBTQ+ parented families through everyday practices and embedding a culture of acceptance and inclusion.
